In its second year, PinkTie.org raises over a quarter-million in the fight against breast cancer!
Bethpage State Park, New York – More than 1,000 people jammed Carlyle On The Green in Bethpage Monday night to attend the second annual PinkTie.org fundraising event and rub elbows with some New York sports legends. The evening boasted a “who’s who” of celebrities and sport icons, music and entertainment, casino tables, a silent auction and exclusive raffles, a NCAA Men’s Basketball championship game, an exotic car show, and more!
Called Real Estate Professionals Networking for a Cure, the event, founded by Mike Cave, CEO of Syosset-based 1st Equity Title & Closing Services, raised more than $250,000 for the FACT Breast Cancer Foundation, according to its organizers.
“We had an overwhelming response from attendees and all our sponsors,” said Christine Herbst, director of public relations and marketing for 1st Equity Title and Closing Services, who helped run the event. “They’re really the ones that made this possible.”
Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Jim Leyritz, and Walt “Clyde” Frazier were among the sports celebrities who signed autographs and chatted up attendees, most of whom were from the Long Island real estate industry.
Breast cancer is a serious problem for women world-wide, but almost nowhere feels this worse than on Long Island, where the numbers of breast cancers cases are disproportionately prevalent and 18% higher than the rest of the nation. Pinktie.org has stepped up to do their part to try to raise awareness and funds to fight this insidious disease.
“I’m really proud of the real estate community and how we all pull together for this great cause. It’s one of the highlights of our year and we plan to set records on how much help we can get behind the fight against breast cancer,” said Mike Cave. “We chose FACT because it’s a 100% volunteer organization where not one penny of the proceeds gets eaten up in overhead expenses. All funds raised stay in New York and Long Island to help the local community.”
In addition to holding upscale events, Pinktie.org also uses the men’s fashion accessory to raise funds for FACT with celebrity autographed neckties.
